First Anniversary Ball

Moray Business Women held its First Anniversary Ball in November 2007, with the theme of 007 for 2007, and over 80 guests joined in the fun of the evening, dancing away to The Anne Dickson Band or spending hard earned cash in the Charity Casino.

Jo Maunder of Ark Childcare Limited was presented with the First Moray Business Women of the Year Award receiving a cheque for £500 and a gift as a memento.  The award was kindly being sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland.

During the night various fundraisers were held and a grand total of £1,120 has been raised for Moray Business Women's Charity of the Year - Moray Young Carers

Charity 2007

We are delighted to announce that our charity for 2007 - Moray Young Carers, was presented with £2,500.00 as a result of our first year's fundraising. The charity for 2008 is the Moray Women's Refuge.

Meeting Update

Our May meeting was held at the Sunninghill Hotel and everyone agreed that it was a super evening.
Our speaker was Lindy Chayne from the 'Leopard' magazine which covers life in the North-East of Scotland. Lindy told us how she and her husband rescued an almost defunct publication and turned it into a profitable business. Along the way, Lindy was also named as Scottish Editor of the Year. She gave a really interesting and often humourous insight into life at the 'Leapard'. A number of us were so interested that we placed subscriptions for the magazine before we left at the end of the evening!

Wildhearts - The Wolf Trek

This message was sent on behalf of Mick Jackson, the founder and chairman of WildHearts - a unique charity that launches businesses to combat poverty. Mick has spoken about WildDay Out, their events company that promotes sport and healthy living through fun outdoor challenges and events. The next event is the WildHearts Wolf Trek. This will take place on 9th/10th August 2008. The Wolf Trek is a 45 mile walk from historic Dallas Dhu Distillery all the way to Cairngorm Mountain. This route is stunning and will be an inspiration to all who take part in the trek. Further details of this event can be found at: info@wilddayout.com or telephone 01667 451831

Moray Small Business Club

Two events are comimg up in early July and Moray Business Women are welcome to attend.

Fusion Highland Champion, Angela Paterson will be speaking at Horizon Scotland on 10th July. She will be speaking about growing from a micro business into a small business. These first steps are often perceived as the most difficult but Angela will show us how! Of course, she is well qualified to do this as she has recently built up her second successful business. Book now on 0800 0328080 or via the website www.info4businesses.co.uk

Moray Chamber of Commerce is hosting a lunch at the Craigellachie Hotel on 3rd July, 12 for 12:30. The guest speaker will be Tanya Hine, National President of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs (BAWE). Not only is Tanya a mover and shaker, she is also a grandmother and will base her talk on " a new generation of grandmothers", providing us with information on why she is more likely to be locked in a boardroom or speaking at a conference than gardening or watching television! The lunch costs £25 for non-members and £20 for members. For further information and to book a place at this event, phone 01340 881226.
